Pangea Tavern is a fun family owned and operated restaurant on the Koru Village Kampus. At Pangea Tavern, we bring all of the elements together. We invite you to taste our artfully created international and local cuisine in a lively & eclectic atmosphere. Our amazing staff is excited to serve you and your group with friendly southern hospitality and warm smiles. 

Where

Located in the heart of Avon, NC, in front of the Avon Fishing Pier, sits Pangea Tavern. You will know you’ve come to the right space when you see our famous pirate stockades and Kinnakeet Pete photo opportunity out front! With our green grassy Kavon Park and playground on one side, and ample parking for all of our guests on the other, Pangea Tavern is the perfect place for your next dinner. 

When

"Pangea" was the supercontinent that included all current land masses that existed during the late Paleozoic and early Mesozoic eras, and is derived from the Ancient Greek words meaning "entire earth." Pangea Tavern opened its doors in May of 2013 as a part of the Koru Village Kampus. Our family welcomes you to gather, eat, drink, laugh, and relax. Pangea Tavern is currently open Tuesday-Saturday at 5pm for dinner service. *Reservations Accepted

Inspired by worldly flavors, travels, local cuisine, and southern hospitality, Pangea Tavern was created to be a space where friends and family gather. We believe that good food & drink consists of delicious flavors, artfully combined ingredients, and care by those who create & serve your meals. Pangea Tavern, located in Koru Village’s Oceanfront Resort on Hatteras Island, has a decidedly Outer Banks flair. In addition to the eclectic pub’s prime location on Koru’s 13-acre campus, the ambiance of outdoor space gives a nod to the area’s reputation as the stomping grounds for some of history's most infamous pirates.

Backyard Bars Edition

At Pangea Tavnern, you will find eclectic cuisine, craft beer, and live music in a casual setting. Chose indoor seating or the “backporch”. Located by the Avon Pier it’s perfect to go with your beach adventure. A family friendly restaurant by day and a fun happening spot at night. The no “bullshit” corner told me that this is a fun down to earth beach night spot!

A delightful addition to Koru Village in Avon is Pangea Tavern. This gastropub features an outdoor beer garden, delicious innovative food choices, and an extensive selection of local craft beers on tap make this a must-visit while you’re relaxing in the Outer Banks.

Also, this place is just steps from the beach and with the largest selection of craft beers on tap on Hatteras Island. Pangea Tavern is a favorite of locals and visitors alike. Honestly, my favorite dish is the Wonton Tuna Poke!

Koru Village, which is in the heart of Avon, is the site of one of the most popular restaurants on Hatteras Island: Pangea Tavern.

Owned by Joe Thompson — a 30-plus year Hatteras resident, who is affectionately known to locals as “the Mayor of Koru Village” — wanted to create a resort where visitors (and residents) flock for both the food and the atmosphere.
